The Art of Living
In HST we are reading Epictetus' The Art of Living. It is basically a self-help book from the Roman Empire. It is full of short pieces of advice. Here are some the the headings:
Know What You Can Control and What You Can't
Accept Events As They Come
Approach Life As a Banquet
Everything Happens For a Good Reason
Self Mastery Depends on Self-Honesty
Avoid Casual Sex (hehe)
Take Care of Your Body
Good Is Good

yeah. i guess those guys probably never really gave those speeches. plato just made them all up. the book was really just written for the socrates part. plato wanted to get socrates' message out there.

i finished this new book... it is very repetative. it basically says that we should only worry about what we can control and that is only ourselves.
