Brad Somebody

Well, last night i went to the Corpus Cristi bible study (and everything else associated with it) with Brad Sjo...jick?... whatever. Jon Pohl was the bible study leader... so... yeah, it was very excieting to say the least. Adam Halfman was there, what a fun cat. British Jenni was funny. They r all (not exactly all...) are coming to Fowler... what a crazy place to go, i know.

Well it was fun meeting the people at the dinner after the bible study and i liked the rosary (they singe the first hail mary of a decade, so that was sweet), but the bible study was more boring than any of my classes this semester. When I go to bible study with intervarsity we do manuscripting, where we have a print-out of the text and we can mark it up with notes and then we ask eachother questions about what we think and yeah, its great fun. I actually have to think. Listening to Jon Pohl give a bible study is like the opposite of thinking. I just sat there and tried to listen... he just kept reading encyclicals. I'm sorry, but i'm not there to study inciclicals, i'm there to study the bible. i care about the pope, and he knows what he's saying, but i don't like not thinking. I love Jon Pohl, i just really don't like his bible studies... unless of course i'm trying to go to sleep.

Now i feel conflicted. i like the people and i like that we can pray and be so catholic... i've been missing that. but, i dont like how terribly unbarably boring the bible study part of the the bible study is. what do u think?

it is tough...i guess i'm weird and the harder something is to understand, the more i like it...tho it depends on the encyclical...some of the ones i have had to read were like walking tho a molassas swamp with paper shoes...and it is easier to read them yourself, than to have someone else read them...then you can take a break if you need it. I think if i was you ( and i'm not) i would give it a few more shots at least...maybe they don't do the same thing every time...

he is apicapalian... but he went to catholic school and he goes to a catholic church... episcapalians r very close to catholics.. especially the more traditional ones.

well.. they believe in praying to saints (which a lot of protastants dont) they don't believe the Pope is in charge and they let priests marry and women can be priests... but actually a lot of men who r going to be cahtolic priests end up becoming episcapal because they want a family. (i'm not saying that is a good thing) but it does show that there must be a lot of similarities.

i would exactly call that the main points of our religion... they selebrate all of the same holidays, they believe that jesus is pressent in the eucharist, they say the exact same creed as we do... they r just catholics who have fallen off the right path a little bit (thanx a lot henry VIII)
