Airport Family

I was thinking today, mostly because I knew i needed a new post, about some events going on in my life. One big event that is coming up is the the arival of my brother Jon and his family from Florida. He couldn't come up for my graduation party because of his job, he owns a lawn care business.

>>> As a side note for Rachael, a creepy old poor-looking guy just walked by me in the Library. Ok, back to the post...

I was wondering to myself how many times I have atually seen my brother's family. I don't count the times I was in my mom's belly and when I was less than a year old... but that would be 2. Then when I was about 4 and we went to Disney World. They tricked me onto a rollercoaster. They said, "You like trains, don't you?" That was when Garrett was a baby. When I was about 8 I think we went again. I was riding one of their horses and I told Tracy that the saddle was going to falloff but she didnt listen. The saddle rolled right under the horse and I fell right on the ground. Then when I was in middle school we went to Tennessee. That was possibly the lamest vacation of my life. No, not quite, going to the football hall of fame when sea world was closed would be the worste, but I digress. That makes about 3 REAL times that I've seen them.

On Friday night, 11pm, my airport family should be flying in. It will be an excieting time. A nice Thanksgiving, especially for my mom and sister. Jon's family hasn't seen either of Patty's kids yet, so that should be fun.

>>> As another side not. People have been talking about airplanes and trips here a lot and I think thats why I had a dream last night about going on a trip. I remember there were guys going on this trip, Andy Weber comes to mind for some reason. There was someone's mom, someone I don't know. The trip was going to be for 3 months and the flight would be 12-16 hours. I was worried that I hadn't packed enough. I hate it when I can't remember enough of my dreams. Mostly just the feelings.

Yahoo! Music

Rufus Wainwright Fan Radio Station

In listening to the AWESOME radio station I found on Yahoo! Music I have been reintroduced to a great musician, Ryan Adams. His genre, according to Yahoo! is alt-country, but really he is just awesome folksy rock. Check out his site and the VH1 site for him. I love his song "Amy" and "New York, New York," with a video featuring the Twin Towers in the background was a favorite of MTV in 2001.

Another great musician who is played on my new favorite radio station is Jeff Buckley. He has one of the most beautiful voices in rock music (according to me). Ben was the first to tell me about this great musician while we were messing aroudn with Rachael's piano. He covered Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" before Rufus got a chance to. He has a beautiful song called "Lover, You Should've Come Over" along with others on a great CD called "Grace."

If you get a chance to listen to any of these great songs, tell me what you think.

Exams & Studying & Observations Oh My!

Today I had an exam in GEO. I took it is about a half hour; i was rushing. I had to be in Fowler to get 3 observation hours in.

I have to observe 10 hours of teaching this week. At least one teacher I've never had and at least two grade levels (elem., middle, high, or special ed.). Today, I observed a guy who took over for Mr. Mowry teach two classes of physics and Ms. Tichnell in choir. On Thursday I am observing Mr. Wilson most of the day but at least one hour in special ed; maybe another hour in Mr. Smith's or another class. For observations I have to make a class layout for each class and fill in notes about the behavior or the teachers and students and other elements of the classroom. When I am done observing I have to write a report about my experience.

Aside from the GEO exam today, I also have my HEV exam on Friday and my HST exam on Monday. I have a study session for HST on thursday from 5-7 (so I have to come back up here right after observing school). And another might still be scheduled for HEV.
